VPS advice appears everywhere in automated trading because many traditional setups run the automation on the user’s own trading terminal.
If that terminal closes, the computer sleeps, the internet drops or the machine restarts, software that depends on that machine can stop seeing new conditions or carrying out its work.
A VPS solves that problem by giving the automation another computer that stays online. But a VPS is not a universal requirement for every kind of automated trading product.
Why do many trading bots need a VPS?
A self-hosted trading bot has to run somewhere.
If the bot runs inside software on your laptop or desktop, your machine becomes part of the automation setup. Keeping it available may mean leaving it powered on, preventing sleep, maintaining the internet connection and dealing with updates or restarts.
A VPS moves that responsibility to a remote computer. You still have to choose, configure and maintain the automation that runs there, but your personal computer no longer has to stay awake.
Does every automated trading product need a VPS?
No. Hosted automation runs on the service provider’s infrastructure rather than depending on the user’s personal computer to stay online.
That means “Do I need a VPS?” is really a question about the product’s operating model. A self-hosted bot may need one. A hosted product can remove that setup burden from the user.
Do I need a VPS for Chilla?

Can I close Chilla after activating work?
Yes. Once the work is properly authorized and active, closing the app or browser does not by itself stop that work.
Chilla can continue carrying supported market work within the boundaries you approved and report back when you return.
Your device still matters when Chilla needs a new decision from you, when a sensitive account step requires your control, or when you want to change, pause, inspect or stop the work.
What happens if my home power or internet goes off?
Your personal power or internet interruption does not turn your laptop into the point of failure for already active hosted Chilla work.
You may temporarily be unable to open Chilla or respond to something that needs you. Active work itself does not depend on your device remaining online.
Hosted software can still have its own outages, and live work also depends on market data and external trading-account providers. No hosted service can truthfully promise that interruptions are impossible.
Does hosted mean I never have to check anything?
No. Hosted removes an infrastructure chore. It does not remove your authority or the need to understand the work you allow.
You still choose the material work when choices belong to you. You can come back to ask what happened, inspect Flow, change direction, pause or stop active work.

What if I want to run my own bot instead?
Then a VPS can still be a sensible tool, especially if your bot must remain connected whenever its conditions may occur.
